As a Sender, you can use the Field ID feature to create rules for showing or hiding fields in your documents. This makes signing documents easier and more customized, automatically adjusting to different situations. Signers can complete the process efficiently and avoid unnecessary fields that may cause confusion.
DottedSign automatically generates random Field IDs for Text, Checkbox, and Radio Button fields. You can customize these IDs for easier identification when setting up Field Conditional Rules.

How to Set Field ID:
DottedSign automatically generates random Field IDs for Text, Checkbox, and Radio Button fields. You can customize these IDs for easier identification when setting up Field Conditional Rules. Additionally, you can create Group Field IDs for Checkbox and Radio Button fields.
- Click on "More" in the field.
- Enter your desired Field Group ID or Field ID.
Naming rule: Use only English letters, numbers or underscores; maximum 50 characters.
Note: Namings for Field IDs and Field Group IDs within the same task must not be duplicated.
How to Set Field Conditional Rule:
You can implement Field Conditional Rules to dynamically show or hide specific fields based on different scenarios. For instance, if the signer selects "Credit Card" as the payment method, the "Credit Card Number" field will appear accordingly; if they choose "Bank Transfer", the "Bank Account Number" field will be then displayed.
- Click on "More" in the field.
- Open “Field Conditional Rule”.
- Click on “Add rule”.
- Set the Trigger Field along with one or more Conditional Fields to create dynamic interactions.
- When you finish editing the rules click the “Check” icon.
- Click “Confirm” to save the rules. When the signer selects the Trigger Field, the relevant Conditional Fields will show.
- After setting, the conditional fields will be displayed with diagonal lines.
- Enter the preview mode to see how the signer will view all the effects triggered by the conditional rules.
Note:
- Text fields can only be designated as conditional fields.
- A single trigger field can activate multiple conditional fields, but each conditional field can only be assigned once within a rule.
- Once a field's conditional rule is established, you cannot change the signer, as the field is linked to these rules.
- Deleting a field with existing rules will also remove the associated conditional rules.
- If a field is filled out but hidden due to these rules, it will be considered invalid and will not appear in the completed document.
- Mutually exclusive rules are not allowed.
